Sl. No.

English

1.

Title of the technology: Improvement of Maize-Jute-T. Aman cropping pattern using mordern cultivars and management practices.

Year of innovation: 2015

2.

Indroduction: Using quality seeds, HYV, balanced fertilizers, and timely sowing, the farmer will be able to increase productivity while also benefiting financially from the aforementioned technology.

3.

Salient features of the technology:

a) This technology was developed through an on-farm research program from 2011 to 2014.

b) Compared to using existing cultivars and management, farmers can produce 20–25 % more.

c) This cropping system will benefit the farmer economically by increasing crop productivity.

d) BCR of maize, jute and T. Aman rice in improved cropping pattern was found to be 1.30, 1.81 and 1.45 respectively which was 1.12, 1.53 and 1.35 respectively in farmer's own cultivars and management.

Suitability of the technology: This advanced cropping pattern is suitable for medium high land of Manikganj, Rangpur, Dinajpur and Narayanganj.

6.

Economic benefit of the technology and role for livelihood development:

Average yield per hectare of maize, jute and T. Aman in improved cropping system was observed to be 6,400 kg, 3,047 kg and 4,286 kg respectively as compared to 5,265 kg, 2,380 kg and 3,803 kg respectively in farmer cropping pattern. Average Benefit cost ratio of maize, jute and T. Aman under improved cropping system was found to be 1.30, 1.81 and 1.45 respectively as against 1.12, 1.53 and 1.35 respectively under farmer's own practises.
