Name of Technology: Tossa jute variety in Jute-Roppa Aman-Wheat cropping pattern

Year of innovation: 1995

2.

Introduction: It is very important to increase the cropping intensity by using early sowing Tossa jute in jute-ropa aman-wheat cropping pattern which ensures optimal land utilization as well as conversion of mono-cropped land to tri-cropped land.

3.

Salient features of the technology:

  • Cropping intensity will increase.
  • A considerable relaxation of sowing time of Agam tossa varieties (BJRI Tossa Pat-3 and O-9897) was observed over the time of transplanting of roppa amon and sowing of wheat during tri-cropping pattern.
  • Agam tossa jute compared to Nabi Tossa variety (O-4) gives overall higher yield in jute based tri- cropping pattern.

4.

Brief description of the technology:

Sowing Date: 15 March- 15 May.

Life span: 100 days

Seed rate: Jute: Line sowing: 5- 5.5 kg/ha.

                Broadcasting: 6-6.5 kg/ha.

Fertilizer dose: Dose and method given by BJRI.

Irrigation: As per needed.

Weed Control: Weeds should be controlled at 20-25 days and 40-45 days after sowing.

Yield: Fibre: 2.5-3.5 t/ha.

5.

Suitability of the Technology: All over the country.
