Indroduction: On medium-high land, the Fallow-jute-T. Aman cropping pattern is cultivated in the Manikganj district. By including 4 (four) crops rather than the two-cropped cropping pattern in the aforementioned land, it is possible to recommend an improved cropping pattern of Onion-Jute-Late jute seed+Coriander. This technology was developed by JFSD through research activities at farmers’ field during 2012 to 2015.

Salient features of the technology:

a) Four crops are included in the crop pattern.

b) In addition to producing jute seed, farmers also grow high-value crops including spices and vegetable crops.

c) In Kharif-2 and Rabi seasons, high value crops such as onion and coriander, including jute seed, could be grown in place of T. Aman and fallow.

Suitability of the technology:

This improved pattern is suitable in the medium high land of Manikganj. From 2012 to 2015, the utility of this technology was verified in Manikganj region.

Economic benefit of the technology and role for livelihood development:

JuteJute seed+CorianderOnion cropping patterns could 30-35% higher gross return than farmers’ practice.
