Name of Technology: Seed production technology from jute seedlings in Nabi Moushum Year of innovation: 2013 |
2. |
Introduction: A major component of jute crop production is high quality jute seeds. By using this method, in a short time (4-5 months) in the absence of dry land, jute seedlings can be planted directly on muddy land to produce more and quality jute seeds. Actually, this method is used when jute seeds cannot be directly sown or jute cuttings cannot be arranged. |

Brief description of the technology: Preparation of seed bed: For seed bed soil should be taken from fertile land. A 3 (three) meter long and 1 (one) meter wide piece of land/soil should be raked with enough dry cow dung/compost manure and mixed with 30 grams of urea, 20 grams of phosphorus and 20 grams of potash fertilizers to prepare the seed bed. For sowing, 1-2 grams of good quality jute seeds (which have more than 80% germination capacity) should be sown on that amount of land. Seedling planting: Generally, 30-40 days old seedlings should be planted in the field in the afternoon by keeping two leaves or part of them separately. Planting time: Shravan-Bhadra (Mid July - Mid September) months. Harvesting: If 70-80% of the fruits turn brown, the plant should be cut and harvested. But care should be taken so that seeds cannot be collected from diseased trees under any circumstances. The seeds should be collected on a sunny day. Yield: 400-600 kg/ha jute seed |
